There is nothing audacious about this stupendous song. I absolutely concur with your message and everyday more and more people pull their head from the sandbox or at least I would like to believe that. Hope it's true but won't hold My breath!

WE REALY NEAD MORE OF THIS TYP OF THINKIN AND SINGIN
Ya know once and while a truth speaker /singer dares to ruffle feathers and God bless you for having the guts to say it like it is.
Please keep it up and the truth will prevail.
This sounds better than most of the stuff on here.
AWESOME!
Tellin' it like it is!
Great job Matt, you obviously have the same un-love for those idiots as I do!!!
Just because I agree with this politically doesn't mean I like it as a song. It's ok, and has some humor...but it's not great. There is some buzz on every downstroke of the guitar and the vocal track sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom.
Very astute music guy. I play a hand-me-down Yamaha classical with at least one string that rattles and it did take me a while to edit out the sound of the toilet running in the background. I will settle for being less than great and do hereby accept your backhanded compliment - and thanks for listening!
Way to go Matt! I think you sang what alot of us think! loved it!
Your welcome Matt. I appreciate your response. Take your guitar to a local music store and they can probably fix the buzz (it may just be a bad string, or a simple adjustment) and don't record in the bathroom! In spite of what most people think, it doesn't sound better in there. Like I said, I agree with the politics of this song! Keep at it, you have a good voice and good writing skills...keep honing both and you'll get people to listen to you. The song is doing very well on these charts this week. Congratulations.
Seriously, have we really come to this? This is just contrived bullshit! I don't care if I get band for this response but seriously!!! Fair enough I can't count on peoples music tastes, but for fuck sake this is just taking to piss and has no place being the top of these charts at all. how are people actually voting for this nonsense?
I THINK .... the first few words of this song mean a lot, A LOT more than people think, I think this guys's talking about anybody that has actually voted for this song.
fucking get over it for fuck sake!!

Sheezy we get the point, Pookz you not got anything else to say? My opinion, I don't eally like this kind of music, it's a bit too much like a pre=election speach for me with music in the backgroudn rather than a song but eacvh to their own. Personally I wouldn't really call this mucic as such

Because of universal health care, my dad in France is being treated for his cancer with the best available techniques, the best doctors FOR FREE. That's right, he doesn't have to pay a cent for his treatment, which means my family doesn't have to go into bankruptcy. this is paid through taxes that are not higher than in the US. Nobody gets broke because of getting sick, people live longer and healthier lives. It is that simple. Why anybody would think that leaving their health in the hands of private companies is a better choice is beyond me.

HERE HERE CHEEEEEEEERS!!!! well said Nicolas!! This song doesn't deserve to be here!! Like comments above and like you say this is a sick sick song!! I jear what Pookz has said when he says " have we come to this"
Is everybody that likes this song just a massive cunt?
well, fair enough you feel you have something to say, that's fai enough, bu there in nothing good about this song, you've taken some samples and used a poor very repetative background guitar that is basically a 16 bar loop on a childs guitar, there is not talent or Music here, if you want to go into politics become a politician or at least make a decent song along with what you're trying to say.
Sorry to be harsh but this is a poor excuse for a "song"
I don't think this is a good song at all, but I think people should stick to reviewing just the music. If you don't like the content, you certainly can say so, but remaining civil I think is a good idea.
WOW 2-WEEKS IN A ROW! I can’t thank everyone enough for voting for my music. Per the rules I am ineligible to win again but I look forward to listening to more great music and voting so they can get air-play.
Thanks Again,
Matt welch
Nicolas,
Thank God your father is receiving the care he needs but you are mistaken about the FREE part. Though your father may not be paying anything directly right now, if he lives in France he has already paid for it. France has one of the highest tax burdens in Europe at about 50% and the Public Debt is about 80% of the GDP, about twice that of the US. France is actually going the opposite way the US is going, they are moving in to more private and less government control of the economy, even they realize it can‘t be sustained. Regardless of one isolated success story about socialized medicine I can’t believe any American would be willing to reduce the status of The United States to the level of France or any other country.
Mr. Sheezy,
Seriously, how have you come to this? It’s obvious that the artist you are supporting has failed to win “Song of the Week”, as one who has won it twice now, tell them not to give up! As I cannot win again, next week they won’t have to worry about me being in their way so maybe they will make it. In regards to your review of my fabricated steer manure, hopefully your guardian removed you to a safe place so you couldn’t injure yourself or others while you were flopping around on the floor during your tantrum. I‘m sure you’ve been warned about the consequences of skipping your meds so please do the world a favor - take a pill!
Mr. Kaceybent,
The same old “this should be banned” is tiresome. Burned any good books lately?
Mr. Rockjammer,
The fact that your vocabulary deficit wouldn’t allow you to string together a sentence without digging deep into your “favorite words” vault, makes me wonder how you navigated the username and password portion of this website. But you’ll be OK, your mommy, a sister, girlfriend or some girl scout on the street will eventually slap some respect into you.
Mr. Cunningstunt,
As musicguy098 and I have previously discussed, my guitar needs new strings and I should quit recording in the bathroom. However, I must point out that it is hard to loop a song with as many modulations as this song has and my guitar that needs strings is full size.
You have to set your priorities right. Of course a health care system that's paid by taxes through the government is bound to increase the deficit. That's kind of the point. You pay for people's health expenses, you don't make money out of it. It is free because you don't have to pay when you go see a doctor (well you do have to pay 1 euro now...), because it has already been paid for through taxes, which means, and this is a crucial point, that people will not hesitate in going to the doctor because they can't afford it. Hence better health, longer lives and details like that. Taxes are irrelevant because what matter is the comfort and the live style you can afford through you job, not the money you make.

As for the "isolated success story of socialized medicine", you really have to live in an alternate universe not to see that it works better (or watch too much fox news). quick example: number of minor's death per year due to the seasonal flu in the US: an estimated 20000. in Germany, 180. Related to the population, that's a 20-fold difference. Of course that's just a correlation but I wouldn't be surprised if this is at least partly due to the fact that people won't go to the doctor until they really have no choice (which usually means too late). So stop pretending that your health care system is good: it's slow, unefficient, costly and immoral.

Nicolas - good luck to you and yours.
Matt,
My new Arlo Guthrie, your new song, after 5 straight plays, is at the top of my favorites list. I am a Doc. Last night the Congress voted to deconstruct the finest healthcare system the world has ever had. I am a mixture of sad, mad and scared. Your song touches each of those emotions and reminds me there are plenty of others in my lifeboat. How long before I'll be able to purchase the track?
Matt, So glad to hear you gave up recording in the bath room, as after reading most of these reviews that is where they belong" in the shitter". As most of your stuff i have been able to listen to , I like and agree with the song. The sooner some of these people pull their heads out of there asses so they can see better, they will recognize how our country is being sold out. Gotta go and find the ups man so Ican get my c.d. from him, he has had it long enough. Keep singing and i will keep listening
