Stephen Anastasia
Genre: 'Acoustic' 'Folk' 'Jazz'Baritone and Guitarist Stephen Anastasia began his training in his native San Luis Obispo where at a young age he began his career by singing and playing his guitar in local convalescent hospitals. At Cuesta College he performed in community theater as well as college productions of opera and musical theater. He received his Bachelor of Music in Choral and Vocal Music at CSU Long Beach and his Masters of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance at UC Irvine. A very versatile musician, Stephen sings and plays in many different styles. As a guitarist, he specializes in Senior Entertainment, performing from the American Songbook, Broadway and Movie classics as well as Hymns, Patriotic songs, Italian classics, and other songs from around the world. As a classical singer, Stephen was an AGMA chorus member with Opera Pacific for six seasons. He has performed with the Cal State Long Beach Opera Institute in Dido and Aeneas (First Sailor) and The Medium (Mr. Gobineau) under the baton of Maestro Henri Venanzi, and with University of California, Irvine Opera in Trial By Jury (Counsel), The Telephone (Ben), Signor Deluso (Deluso), and Gianni Schicchi (Schicchi). He returned as a featured alumnus with the UCI Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Stephen Tucker as Marcello in Act III of La Bohème. Stephen has also performed with Pacific Repertory Opera, Downtown Opera (a subsidiary of Long Beach Opera), Center Stage Opera, the Music Companie of Hollywood, ASCAP Music Theater Workshop, Chorale Bel Canto under Dr. Stephen Gothold , is a soloist with the Long Beach Camerata Singers under the baton of Dr. Robert Istad, and recently appeared in concert with Guitarist Aaron Spoor. Stephen has also been privileged to be the baritone soloist for the Amadeus Festival in Florence, Italy. A member of NATS, Stephen is adjunct faculty at Mount San Antonio College and Riverside City College where he teaches private voice, Music Therapy for Seniors and Music History. Stephen studies with Prof. Robin Buck of UC Irvine.
